This is my conditioner recipe as it sits currently. It’s on perhaps its 4th iteration. This formula makes a 400g batch of conditioner which is nearly 15oz. An aluminum can of Coca Coca is 12 oz so if you decide to make it, you’ll have a good idea of the batch size. The really insane part is how cheap all of this is per batch. I know I’ve spent $25 or more for a bottle of conditioner that doesn’t work half this well but the active ingredients in this are actually only about $8 and that’s at my retail pricing. I know some of you spend more than that Starbucks. If I were buying this stuff by the pallet, the drum, or the rail car, the price would drop dramatically. I
Notes: It’s super important to read and follow the directions on your preservative. Some are sensitive to heat. For example, Germal Plus tends to stop being a preservative at 50C or 120F. Cooling it back off doesn’t help. Once you cook it, it’s done. Others may only work inside a certain pH range. Others may be deactivated by specific ingredients. This isn’t something you want to fail since it will let bacteria, yeast, fungi, and lord knows what else run amok in your conditioner.
You will notice that some of the ingredients are “0%, 0 grams, 0 cost and Not in this iteration”. That’s because I’ve either already integrated through them or they’re under consideration for inclusion into the next iteration. I thought it might be helpful for others to see at least a small part of how I work through the process to create the next iteration so I left them in.
